Fees

Fees are based on the time required and the purpose of the work.

Initial Contact and Assessment

There is no charge for initial contact or for a preliminary assessment of whether I can help.

You are welcome to call 312-337-1782 or begin with photographs. Sending photographs online can be helpful, but it is not required. If you prefer to discuss the work by telephone or pay by check, that is perfectly fine. Online payment is not required.

If photographs—or a brief conversation—show that an artwork has little value or that a formal appraisal would not be useful, I will tell you so without charge.

Professional Consultation

Consultation and research are billed at $125 per hour, with a one-hour minimum.

This applies only after you decide to retain me, and I will let you know before any charge begins.

Written Appraisals

The minimum charge for a written, signed appraisal on letterhead is $250.

The final fee depends on the number of works, the research required, and the intended use of the appraisal.

Art Installation & Display

Art hanging service: $1,000 per day.

Advice on placement, grouping, lighting, and framing is included when appropriate.
